Our Mission at Painted Leaf Studio

At Painted Leaf Studio, I believe art is more than just a creative outlet—it’s a form of care, connection, and healing.

In a world that’s moving faster than ever—and in the midst of a growing mental health crisis—painting offers us something rare: a moment to breathe, express, and just be. Studies have shown that painting and art-making can reduce stress and anxiety by up to 80%. In one study from the Journal of Traumatic Stress, 68% of trauma survivors experienced a reduction in PTSD symptoms through art therapy. Another found that 78% of participants dealing with mental health challenges showed real, measurable improvement after engaging in creative practices.

I’m not a therapist—but I am an artist, and it’s my calling to create a space where joy, peace, and creativity come alive. Whether you’re joining a paint-and-sip event, attending a beginner-friendly class, or just trying something new, Painted Leaf Studio is here to offer you a space to explore, unwind, and connect—with yourself and with others.

Our events are welcoming, whimsical, and thoughtfully designed to help you tap into your inner artist—no experience needed. So come as you are. You belong here.

ABOUT KYLYN CHRISTY

(the founder of Painted Leaf Studio)

Artist. Teacher. Dreamer. Overcomer.

I’ve been a professional artist for over a decade—but the journey here has been anything but ordinary.

As a child, I was often too sick to play outside like the other kids. While my body rested, my imagination ran wild. Painting became my escape—my freedom. I’d lose myself in scenes of mountaintops, Paris picnics, and Venetian gondolas. Art let me go everywhere my body couldn’t.

With the help of God and an incredible support system, I eventually recovered. I pursued art full-time, married my best friend, and started living the vibrant life I once only painted.

Then in 2021, everything changed again. A devastating car accident left me unconscious, injured, and facing a long road of physical and neurological recovery. I had to relearn how to walk, how to move, even how to think clearly again. I faced anxiety, depression, and PTSD head-on.

And once again, art became my refuge.

Why I Do What I Do

I know firsthand how powerful creativity can be—for healing, for hope, for joy. That’s why I started Painted Leaf Studio: to give others the same gift that carried me through my darkest days.

Whether you’re picking up a brush for the first time or returning to it after years away, I want you to feel welcome. My classes are designed to help you explore, relax, laugh, and reconnect with that magical, imaginative part of yourself.

What I Believe

  • I believe in the power of play.

  • I believe everyone is creative.

  • And I believe joy isn’t found in perfection—but in participation.

  • So come paint with me. Let’s make something beautiful—together.
